Yeah it
Yeah it's the same with mine. I guess they do that in case there is a kernel
panic and a sighted person needs to see what's going on on the screen. Just my
theory.

Is there such a thing? I know the ios can be set to 24 hour time but it always
corresponds to where you live. Will the world clock do this under the clock
app? if not then what clock can a friend who wants to know use? He wants it to
have Greenwich Meantime for some reason on his phone. lol.

Ok. I have no idea how this happened, how ever I was trying to send a message
to my spam reporting service I use called spam cop for those who use it. I
think I've not gotten enough sleep as that report went to the list instead. I
could just melt in to the nearest hole and die right now. I thin
Guess we'll have to wait for a fix from apple. For now it's a downloading I

Excuse the parody.
But the link below should explain what happened. Looks like some sort of nDNS
issue if I read it right.

Hi Dónal,
I did think you had probably checked the web page, but just consider this in
the long tradition of terse unix documentation man pages. (Sorry, I wish there
were a more descriptive source for how best to use this. Sometimes I find such
descriptions in reviews, so I may hunt around fo
Hi Esther,
*smile* I'd looked at the webpage. I guess I was looking for something a bit
more comprehensive. For example, and this is purely illustrative, there's a
portion in the "preferences" dialog where one can specify the name of the
decoded (output) track. There are "%n" etc. used. No
Hi Dónal,
There's always the web page for XLD (English version):
http://tmkk.pv.land.to/xld/index_e.html
You can check the section under the heading "How to use". It's also discussed
(briefly) in a number of MacWorld articles such as the May 2011 article by Kirk

Hi, Debbie. You couldn't pick a better group. While I use "the
other operating system" more than Apple, I believe that's (Apple) the
way to go. And with a group such as this one, you can't go wrong.

Hi all,
After months of procrastination I'm finally getting around to playing more with
XLD cd ripper. It looks excellent.
However documentation is pretty sparse. Actually: that isn't true, it seems to
be non-existent. Does anyone have a user manual for this thing?

If it is a .app file then you copy it to the apps folder and it will install.
If it is a ..pkg file run it and it will install and put the app in the apps
folder. In copying the app's file to the app;s folder just know that it is
installed.

Thank you very much for your welcoming email. I'm fairly confident with the
iPad and iPhone as I own both, so hopefully I will get the hang of the
Macbook as fast. I look forward to learning from and exchanging tips with
the list.

Hi Debbie
I didn't answer your query, but as the list owner I'd like to make sure you're
fully aware of what you can do. No matter how basic, how silly or anything
else like that your question may be, you'll never be flamed for asking it on
this group. We pride ourselves in as much as we are
Thank you very much. As I'm a first time Macbook user, I'm sure I will have
more questions.

Hello Debbie,
A DMG file is a disk image. When you get one of these, you need to open it with
Cmd-o.
You'll then find a file browser window. Interact with this and if it contains a
PKG file, open that with Cmd-o also. If it contains an APP file, just copy it
to your Applications folder.

I'm trying to install DMG files. I've never owned a mac before so I don't
know about installing anything on it. Do you no of any guides for a first
time Mac user at all?

Hi Debbie,
What are you trying to install? What type of files are you copying to the
applications folder? Maybe with a bit more information, I can help you figure
out what is going on.
