First of all, there is no default twitter app that I am aware of and don't know where you're getting that. OSX can automatically send you notifications about Twitter to your notification center, but that's definitely not a full Twitter client, such as Sirynx or better yet, YoruFukurou.

HI. Yes you are correct, the notifications were coming from twitter which isn't a specific app. However I shut them up by going to notification centre, finding twitter, and choosing none! Now as before I only have tweet notifications from my chosen twitter client. However the question helped me
