Hi George,
If your test showed that 10 pages converted into 14 minutes of playing time,
then you probably did just hit the 2 GB limit. Rough calculation is that your
160 pages would take 224 minutes, and take up about 2.2 GB.for the uncompressed
sound file. (This is a crude estimate, so don't
I did a test on smaller documents. Total time was 14minutes.

If you want to talk at the same time you can or might be able to use audio hi

YOu can use the say command to accomplish this. As it reads everything use txt
instead of rtf.
say -f filename.txt --progress -v voice name -r 250 -o filename.aiff
f is file name
--progress if you want that will give you a progress of what's happening

Hi George,
Did you try doing an initial test with a smaller document first, such as one of
only 10 pages? If so, do you know roughly how many minutes of track time that
came out to? Are you using any embedded commands to change the speaking rate?

Thanks,

I'm in the process of adding documents to itunes as a spoken track.
I'm in a document with 161pages.
The conversion starts.
Then I get an error saying that import encounted an error.
Is this because the document is too large?
And how can I overcome this problem?

Hi All,
In light of the earlier discussion about the more limited functionality of the

I just left it there but further down the list. We have two older Airport
devices elsewhere in the house which can't handle 802.11n.

Hi Anne,
Did you keep the 2.4GHZ network in there as well or did you "forget" that
network?
I've removed it completely from the list of preferred networks.

Hello Dónal,
I hope that Anne's instructions work for you, because the only way that I know
to get the device logs is with the version 5.6.1 of AirPort Utility that I
still run. (Can give you instructions for that, if you like.)

Hello Dónal,
I went into System Preferences, Networks, and clicked on Advanced. I went to
the table and dragged the 5G network to the top of the list so that my MacBook
Air would connect to that network first.

Hi Anne,
Can you ask him what he means by using "drag and drop" in the network pane to
make it the preferred network?
I've done everything else you have (which makes me feel better).
Thanks,

Hello Dónal,
We've had similar problems with a similar setup. Here's what we did:
1) Change the channel from the default of 11 to the new value of 13 using the
Airport Utility.
2) Activate the 802.11n (5GHz) network on both devices and use drag&drop in the
Network pane of System Preferences to m

Thanks for your help. I also noticed some strange things happening when I
used Control F7. As you say, it sometimes appears to tab you to the next
control. Anyway, deleting the preferences file appears to have fixed things.
And to answer your question, about VoiceOver reading message content vs.
