Hello Krystal, Try switching to list view. Mavericks seems to have a problem with column view. To change to List view, just press Cmd-2. You can navigate the table just with up and down arrows without interacting. You open a folder by pressing Cmd-Down Arrow and go back up a level by pressing

So far no issues here, and I disabled the unread key stroke. Remember that it takes time to synch it with your account. I’d suggest doing permissions repair and if not reset the data base by moving the following file to the desk top in case you need to putt back.
