Actually that's not accurate in the U.K. , the Telecommunications act does
allow for the recording of calls as long as one party is aware of the recording
- that's one person, could be the caller or the person called.
The beeps are there for compliance to laws in other countries.

I would point out that recording calls in that way is illegal in the UK. If you
wish to record telephone calls you o]hav] have a legal obligation to inform the
other party. That's why the beeps exist in most applications that let you do
this.
