only connect via an HDMI port. I don't recall whether that was true? I am

It has a Tosslink digital audio output and a HDMI connector.

The new apple tv only has an audio out via an optical connection, I had to get
an optical to phono with a d.a.c ( digital to analogue convertor for my Denon
hi-fi ) from amazon but it all works very spiffily now.
