Hello Thomas
Until recently Gordon was using an iPhone 3GS. I guess it's supposed to do
this; but the messaging application looks a little different without VoiceOver.
But I cannot remember whether the 3GS was the same although I'd think so given
that its using the same version of iOS.

Hi Thomas
I think this is just a case of user error. I never saw the delete button until
I go into the edit fields twice. But I'll play more with this.\
Thanks.

Hi Chris
Again, maybe I need to explore this more but I didn't see any "Delete" button.
I get a lot of SMS and MMS traffic, so I'll try this.

No, just hit edit in the main message window and select delete on the
conversation you want to remove. If you want to clear everything then hit clear
all in that same edit screen.
Take care.

I just delete the messages in the main window. You do this by double tap and
holding till it makes the sound as if you want to move the app. then while you
have your finger down do a quick swipe left to write or the other way around
and it will ask you to confirm that you want to delete the mess
