No there is a bug wherein right and left arrow will not all the time expand and
collapse threads. A reboot of vo or mail, or both helps.

just got an error beep. Turning on voiceover keyboard help reported toggle
expand disclosure on and off. I think this is slightly different? It may be
that I am getting a different result as I have customised
For me vo back slash expands and collapses things as well as the right arrow.
I use the vo trick as my hands are always in that position.

Generally expanding anything in Mail, tree views, or message conversation
threads, is simply a question of pressing the right cursor key. This does
not always work if you have quick nav on, in which case I find that using
option right does the trick.
