Not quite what you were asking, Bas, but I had one team of students in my Manufacturing Automation class use Machinekit on a BBB along with an AutomationDirect PLC for an assembly task. Other than a few random freezes or lockups, it worked pretty well. Cape was a custom one I designed. Writeup
