have these reviewed and merged, as they represent either very long overdue
updates and/or bug fixes.

I'd like to propose to simplify the maintainance of the PROJ ports, which has
become unnecessary cumbersome and in many cases leading to installments of
multiple versions only because different ports are out-of-sync in respect to
default proj variant.

If there is someone in the community using TextMate and perhaps occasionally
work with M4 (and configure.ac) files, I would recommend installing a bundle
[1] I created some time ago, which adds supports for syntax highlighting.
