I remember having built Kaffe on Darwin 7.2.1. Darwin 8 should work too.

The problem with building the latest version (This started with Macports 1.5)
is that Core Foundation is required. I would have thought that darwin 8 had
core foundation
I will give it a try. I downloaded Darwinports 1.3.2.
