Hi Jenny, You don't need an AIM account to use iChat. If you set up an iChat account, you entered your password, etc. as part of the set up. Start up iChat. If the AIM Buddy List window doesn't appear automatically (which you can check with the window chooser menu command: VO-F2 twice)

Ichat does not create accounts for you on any chat servers. If you don't have the account, you won't be able to set it up in Ichat. There should be a status button near the top of your screen that might say "disconnected," or "connected," or whatever. If it doesn't say Connected or Surf

I'm not going to bother preordering from Amazon because I found out that it actually takes longer to get it when you do that. When Leopard was going to come out, I preordered it from Amazon a few weeks before Oct. 30th. A lot of people on this list got their Leopard disks on Oct. 30th.
