view in Mavericks the first column is status and two days ago it would tell me
unread, replied, etc. Now that is gone. I know it is an image that tells you
that, but it stopped telling me what was unread.

Just google it, they have a web site and you can download the home version for
free.

Anywhere you like, but by default VO looks in /library/scripts I believe. When
you assign your script to a commander, as I assume you are doing, you can
choose any location on the Mac. For instance, I've put scripts in Dropbox
before and run them right from there.

Garageband will *not* be free. Anyway, it's moot when considering the original
question. You will find a button along the bottom that has a magnifying glass,
and voiceover should call 'search. It also should be fine on an iPhone 4s. as
that model runs iOS 7 fine.
