Yes, I’ve been reading about it. So far, though, I haven’t found a document
that provides the technical details. It also isn’t clear whether any of the
current products will be able to support the new standard with firmware updates.

Hi Eric,
Thanks for the info! I never knew you could set up a vpn through
system prefs. Let us on the list know your results if you try out
their app!
Thanks Jeff

I use it here. I haven’t bothered with their app (it wasn’t VO accessible on my
old lion system). Now that I have a far newer Mac mini, I might just try out
the app itself and see what goes with it.
Otherwise, setting up the VPN manually in the system preferences is fairly easy

Ah, so chime is still available? Just not the default setting? That's
good news.
I'm now triple booting, so I'm quite attached to the chime.

Hello,
My understanding of the Mac Mini is that they do have significant issues if you
do not have a monitor attached. Several on this list have recommendations for
pseudo monitors if you don’t want to find an inexpensive display to connect to
your Mac Mini.

Hi Just read a bunch of reviews about private internet access vpn.
Sounds really good, only $39.95 for a year! Does anyone on the list
have experience with this vpn? Is it VO accessible?
Thanks Jeff

Yeah I’m having to put in a request now for a new machine and I’m kind of keen
to wait to see how they correct the keyboard issues.
I’m not much of a fan of the new boards anyway
But going back to the older style would be a nicer touch.

I'd definitely wait. My mother is looking to replace her 2012 Pro, and that's
my advice to her as well.
The 2016 and 2017 Pros have the new butterfly key mechanism in their keyboards,
and it's very prone to damage from debris which other keyboards would just
shrug off. I'm hoping that is addres
Newer ones will chime if you do a Pram reset but by default they turned it off.

Absolutely no issues here. I want an upgraded mac, as macOs Mojave will not be
compatible with my late 2011 Macbook Pro. All macs made or on after 2012, will
be compatible with macOs Mojave. Like others, I will have to wait, and after
all WWDC is about software, not hardware usually.

Is waiting going to cause any issues if you do it for a couple of months more?

Yeah I thought they were going to put one on the keyboard with number pad.
That I’m guessing was a rumour as they don’t seem to be on the new boards.

I still have the chime on my late 2011 Macbook Pro. It's all about the
hardware, somewhat. Newer macs don't emit a chime, older ones do.

Yes the touch bar is only available on the higher end Mac book pro models.
There is a mid of road MBP with no touch bar,
Uses the same keyboard as the Mac Book 12”
Slightly lesser processor I7 2.5 dual core,
Where as the touch bar model has up to a I7 3.5 dual core
This is in the 13” models.

Chime on boot was taken away with sierra 10.12.x,
And the touch bar was added in the late 2016 mac book pros I believe.
But not all MBP have to have the touch bar.

Try setting up a completely new account with administrator rights and see what

Yeah with the notebook I'm able to be portable,
I need to be able to pick up and move around the many buildings on campus
So I'm not sure that a keyboard is going to work for me in this situation but
good thought.
