I've got a late 2014 Mac Mini running Catalina. twice now it has just gone dead in the middle of doing something. today I was playing an audio file in a folder on my Mac when it just stopped. at first I thought the file had ended but I couldn't get a response out of my Mac no matter what I did.

Hi, I suspect that it’s asking you to enter your password for the computer. Upgrading from Mojave to Monterey is perfectly normal and supported. If just entering your password then pressing return does not get it started, use the Application Chooser, VO-f1-f1, down to system Dialogs, and
