Dan suggested you use the install DVD and under utilities use the reset password option. If this does not work for some reason, you can create a new account and delete the old one. WHen you delete the old account, it will give you the opportunity to save the contents of the user account

I have seen this happen once, but I have to admit I didn't take a lot of time trying to resolve the issue. My kid has one of our older Macs and he asked to install some program and it did something that rendered his account unable to be used. Just not sure and maybe if I get some free

Hi, What model macbook do you have? Any chance your numeric pad lock was on and instead on characters on the right side of the keyboard, you're getting numeric values? Try the reset password option but use one that's on the left like only, aka asdf just for fun. Also, try hooking up an
