No Ray, I would suggest deleting them before you install the Vocalizer
Expressive voices or else, like I found out, it’ll bugger up the new ones.

Hello,
I just downloaded OS X Mavericks on my 2012 Macbook Air. As far as
accessibility goes, I’m going to put a damper on something right away.
iBooks isn’t ready for primetime, unfortunately. It’s an extremely quirky
interface, that has lots of accessibility issues that need to be fixed
Hello,
Yes. ibooks does need a lot of waork accessibility wise. I do think its
usable though. But it feels very much like a beta product.

Hi,
Actually the unlabeled buttons not with standing, iBooks is quite usable with
Voiceover. Make sure that you have list selected. I’ve also have been able to
download a sample chapter of an iBooks version of a book I have in PDF, and it
is much better. The app certainly needs a little
Honestly, I am beginning to think it might be high time to have a list
discussion on what defines accessible and usable. One user says it's not at
all accessible while another says it's doable. Perhaps we might want to do a

The question I have is: are there help labels for each button? For me, if a
button is labeled with the help tag, I can at least label it myself and then
the app is usable. It isn't perfect, but it is better than nothing.

hey,
have just put the new OS on and all reddy i see a difference. hard to put my
finger on but in some parts VO just seems more descriptive. some of the voices
have got updates to install as well so i look forward to having a look at that.

Okay, now please do me a favor and give me a reason to go dancing in the

has driven so many of us insane... Please, tell me they did *something* about
that.

i don’t know about that as yet but i don’t think so some how.
something new in VLC with VO i found interesting, if VO speeks when you are
listening to something the music turns down when speech is on and turns back up
when VO is done talking.

Yes, auto-ducking is finally on the Mac. Apparently there's a checkbox to
control that if you don't like it.

VO is much better on the net EG if you back out of a page it remembers where
you were but who knows if it will remember all the time.

The update is very good, except for a few things. I haven’t looked in the whole
VO utility but the annoying pitch changes for data detectors in Mail and search
boxes are still present with the Nuance voices. On the other hand, I’m glad
that Vocalizer Expressive is on this thing now, although I
As to the auto ducking, take a look in the commands available to a commander
keystroke or gesture. It might be hiding in one of those menus, so you could
just toggle it with a commander. I don't know since I don't yet have the
update, but that is my first reaction.

hey,
the one thing this update has done is make VO fantastic with safari. you can
now click on text elements and even better if you hit the back button it seems
to remember where i was when i clicked the link. anyone who has used

How do you delete the old vocalizer voices? Do you just uncheck them or what?
I assume, of course, that you have to do this after the update?
