It’s not really clear to me either. Prior versions of Mail.app didn’t do that,
but I’m fairly sure Yosemite was affected too. Other mail clients that are
engineered to tolerate disconnection don’t have a problem because all the state
is maintained locally. For now, my only suggestion for the
I also experienced this running Yosemite from time to time. Believe it or not
I've also seen it happen on iOS 8. It used to upset me, now I just ignore it
and delete the messages in another session..

Hello Brian,
I have not experienced this problem with any of my email accounts including
Exchange, iCloud, gMail, Yahoo, etc. In fact, the El Capitan mail client is
working better than ever, for me, better than it did in Yosemite.

Agreed, this is not an issue with El Capitan. This kind of issue is bound to
happen with any Email client, whether Outlook, Apple Mail, the iOS mail app, or
anywhere else. It’s literally an issue between the Email client and the mail
server, and every Email client reacts differently. In Outlook
Thanks for all the feedback. will see if it keeps up.

Hi Mary,
I most often experience it with my Exchange account.

Hi Brian,
That's not new to el Capitan. I'm experiencing it in Yosemite.

Hi!
I haven't actually seen this at all. Well, I saw it once, and then it
disappeared on its own. I use iCloud, Yahoo and Gmail, as well as some Exchange.
Just goes to show bugs aren't always consistently reproduced. :)

I haven’t seen this one yet, and I use several different mail accounts. I did
experience it in the Betas, but after three days, I’ve not had problems
deleting mail in the release version.
Now, I’ve probably just shot myself in the foot.

I'm sorry for my last question. Joseph's response, saying that it was not
limited to iCloud only, came in just after I hit the send button on my question
about the scope of this problem.

I have not upgraded my Mac yet. And hearing about this, I have to say I'm sorry
for you but glad I haven't done it. I am curious about one thing which is, is
this just your iCloud account or is it all your accounts such as Gmail?

Well, I'll just say this it's not just iCloud. It's Yahoo, outlook, and gmail.

Thanks it makes no sense and all the messages reappear. It seems to happen with
