Ok, this explains everything for my mac mini 2010 bbeing seriously sluggish
when i open safari.
I will try connecting an hdmi cable to feign connectivity and have something
bearable when i get online.

Unless something has changed, connecting a display will make a difference, it
doesn't have to be turned on, just connected. The 2008 model could be fooled in
to thinking there was a monitor connected by connecting an adapter that would
allow it to be connected to a TV, it was the DVI to Video ad
Unfortunately, with the new Mac Minis, you have to have a display in order
to get rid of the sluggish behavior in Safari. You will read archived
messages that might say different, but it's not true. If you want to have
Safari perform as it should, you'll need a display.
