Yep, with the exception of the MBA options per screen size, the only way to go
faster is to go bigger. Hence I have a 27-inch iMac. Dunno why Apple feel
they need to do this; guess it just makes the most sense from a marketing
perspective.

Did you do any tweaking under the hood using the vmx file? Just
curious. The only thing I would love to change is getting one external
drive to automatically connect after Windows boots. Everything else

Certainly agreed on that. On my MBP I’m running Fusion 8 with Windows 10 32bit
which for me is more compact and uses less space than 64bit. In case of Fusion
it really doesn’t matter what version of Windows you are wanting to install and
for heavy VM users I would certainly recommend 64 bit. Aga
+1 on version 8. It’s also faster and very well integrated to work with Voice
Over.

In Windows, yes. But as I said, if you cannot open more than one,
you might be short on memory.
