you find Speech Rate, then using VO-Command-Up or Down arrow to adjust it.

OK, I understand now. What you need is GhostReader if what you want to do is
just read a document.
With GhostReader, you can skip any number of sentences or paragraphs and
GhostReader will pick up immediately.

For the time being, Apple doesn't even provide grade 1 Braille in other
languages apart from American English. It's my husband who provides all the
Braille in other languages, and he has not found a way to implement contracted

Now I never knew about that touchpad shortcut with the control key etc, just
tried it and it works a treat. My 27 inch iMac is becoming more redundant by
the day. I hope they bring out a usb touchpad so I can ditch the useless
mouse.

The legacy voices don't use much in the way of resources so getting rid of them
would save nothing
This would be very useful for the likes of Pages, Word etc or any document that
is marked up including PDFs I am sure we would all enjoy the benefits of
navigating documents in the same way we navigate web pages. Point well raised.
