magnification for it to be useful for me and the cursor tracking doesn't work
well for me when zoomed right in. If your friend only uses moderate zoom then
it might work ok for her.

You can activate the zoom feature with Command-Option-8 or from the
Universal Access menu under System Preferences under the "Seeing"
tab. If you use the Universal Preferences menu, you can also set
options, such as the default zoom magnification range, if you press
(VO-Space
You can find all the zoom stuff in the Universal Access control panel in
System Preferences. In general you use command+option+8 to turn the
ability to zoom on and off and then use command option equals to zoom in
