Renaming a file isIn a file list in Finder just press enter on the file, erase the old name and type in a new one, but that would not change the format, only the name. If you want to change the format of a file, how you would accomplish this depends on the type of file you are dealing with. Yo

you change the extension of a file in the same edit field as you change the name. By default, as soon as you hit enter to rename, only its name will be selected so when you type that’s what’ll get overwritten. But you can just move to the right to the extension, then backspace over it and type i
