I never turn my router off unless the power to the house goes off.

Another possibility is that both your router and your ISP are responding to
DHCP requests. If you expect your router to be handling DHCP then make sure of
the following:
1. Only one device is configured for DHCP on your LAN.
2. That broadcast ethernet packets on your lan do not get sent out beyo
That may be exactly it. I will delay the Mac startup a little more.

Sounds like either your Mac was already on when the router started up, or the
Mac started up faster than the router. Two ways to stop that message are to
just restart the Mac so that it will get a new DHCP lease from the router, or
you can go into System Prefs, Network, then to the Advance
