As an owner of an ipod touch, I agree with the recommendation to buy a
refurbished iphone. It's not that I don't love my ipod, I use it for so
many things. But it was $200 new and for just a little more I could have
gotten a refurbished iphone. The one thing about buying a refurbished

Scott,
This discussion is not about an iPhone, it is about an iPod. I tested an
i-phone 6 in an apple storeand after I started almost throwing up from
the dizziness, did not feel continuing to play was a smart idea.
Given the subject line, might not asking what do you want an iPod for?

Well, the more recent more powerful iPhones have a greater selection of voices.
Not sure if they all have the negative effects you mention, you told me in
detail about the problem before. I know Alex for example is out of the
question but some of the others may be a better fit, there are some

I cannot use ios at all, the voices stimulate the dizzy centres of my

My question about the touch was as an absolute last resort.
Since the iPod is at the request of my medical team, i prefer not making a

Kare, one thing you could do is use a decommissioned phone, it works just
nicely as an iPod like device and you don’t need the latest and greatest but
you can definitely take advantage of enhanced voices. You also have the
advantage of having a GPS receiver in these as GPS is part of the cell m
I may make the Classic a priority then.
For me personally, at least the last time I tested them at an apple store,
the enhanced ios voices too were a bit of a physical dizziness risk.
If I can avoid the touch I will.
Thanks again,

Hi Kare.
Perhaps I read a post too swiftly then, as I thought one was shared here
recently that Apple was going to discontinue the IPod.
Sorry if i am mistaken.
Your comment suggests that the nano still exists?
Will be helpful to hunt models if I know the last generation.
Thanks,

Hi Kare. You can download enhanced voices for an iOS device like the
iPod touch but the voices for the rockbox firmware on the iPod video
for example is very slim if any as I recall.
I always wanted the classic as the high capacity model was a whopping
160gb which is still huge now for an mp3 play
This rumor has been around for many years. But I think it refers to the
ipod nano, not the ipod touch. Although, I am not sure what purpose the
ipod touch serves since an ipad mini is so similar.

Hi Cameron,
Most informative thank you.
I suppose then that the iPod allows for upgrading to the enhanced voices?
I did not recall much about the video edition, but i do recall the
classic, thinking that there were a few generations of the unit.

The iPod touch line has the iOS touch interface like the various
iPhones and iPads do.
If you're talking about the click wheel with the enter button in the
middle, that would have been the iPod classic and video models. They
were killed off years ago but you can still get them at a pretty good

Hi everyone,
Yes I recall posts indicating that Apple is going to discontinue the iPod.
I am not seeking a hot off the shelf model regardless, having two unique
questions.
First, what was the last edition that still had buttons? If I must get a
touch, how close do the voices mirror those on the
