Hi all,
Don't think my original message went through so here goes again.
I am getting a macbook pro and I have heard that voiceover will come up
automatically several seconds after the machine starts so you can use
Yes, this has been the case for several years. I did so in 2011 when I switched
to the Mac. I just waited after I turned on my new Mac back then.

Brian,
the term full sized does not relate to the number of keys, but rather the
actual physical size of the principal qwerty keys, so when a manufacturer
claims, full sized keyboard, this is correct on the proviso that the numbers
and alphabet keys are all standard in physical dimension.
Mary,
the reason for the loss of the number pad on iMac's and things, is that a lot
of folk now have such machines in their living rooms and other locations, and
as such, they move the keyboard from location to location, I for example might
sit with my blue tooth keyboard on my lap, in these
smaller. Just my $0.2.

Hi,
This isn't just an apple thing. Many netbooks, and other laptops don't have
the full complement of function keys on both sides of the spacebar.

Unfortunately, the geniuses at Apple do not include a control key on the right

I too like the Apple BT keyboard compared with other possibilities. But I don't
think they should tout it as full sized when it is not. I wish Apple had bucked
the unhappy trend of cutting out certain keys on these keyboards. They get a
lot of things right, but not this time, IMHO. It reminds
Hi all,
I have borrowed a macbook pro from someone here in Toronto, giving me my
first chance to really play with voiceover.
I created a copy of the guide int ext for others, so have it as well.
My question has to do with the keyboard itself.

Hi Karen,
Speech rate can be adjusted with vo-cmd-arrow keys, left and right until you
reach rate and up and down to adjust. As for drawbacks with quicknav or
locking the VO cursor, quicknav generally won't impact anything else, though
you'll want to be careful in the event you ever do

Will try the quick nav for a while. I am doing some learning tings before
I actually try going on the net or anything. as for using one hand for

VO Shift C copies the last phrase VO heard to the pasteboard. Vo C process the

the VO c command for last character / phonetic, is a toggle type command, press
VO C once and you get the character, and again and you get the phonetic.

Personally I use Quick Nav all the time, I find it a much faster way of
navigating verse the other options, short of perhaps gestures, but gestures on
a touch pad can get rather achy with your wrist.
