Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for the clarification, and best of luck on this.

Yes, this is absolutely not just an interesting and novel project to do for the
fun of it though you could enjoy that too if you like a challenge! Tracking and
using braille in terminal, at least for me, works way better with brltty than
with voiceover's braille. Plus you don't get all those lin
Hi, Alex,
VO works ok with the shell, but once you start using applications like Alpine
for mail and text web browsers, VO HAS some pretty awkward tracking issues.
Brtty is specifically designed to work with a terminal and does a wonerful job
of it. It's the only screen reader I know of that us
Sorry, but why build Brltty for the mac? Voiceover has extensive braille
support, and it is the only screen reader available for the Mac to my
knowledge. There may be edge cases where independent braille output would be
helpful, but I can't think of any. Aside from the fun of the project itself
You definitely need to use screen-4.0.1 and that still can be compiled and

are contained in the brltty source which you must download using subversion. I
will really try to update the instructions I wrote several years ago and post
them in the next few days.

Hello,
I’m looking at building brltty on the mac. The first problem is compiling a
version of screen with shared memory. I don’t think the version which comes
with the os in /usr/bin supports shared memory . I installed the version of
screen from macports, but don’t think the result is any be
