Hi Dave,
Yes, you are correct. Assign the letter, then VO-right to the command choosing
menu thing, VO-space on that, down to Web, then right and down to Toggle
DOM-Group.

Tim,
I tried to set up a keyboard command to toggle between DOM and Group order as
you have, but was not able to do it. It’s in the Voiceover Utility, under
Keyboard commanders, correct? Assign a letter, and then…there I get lost.

Hi,
One of the challenges I've found with DOM order is that web-site developers
don't always code things in a logical order. From a development prospective,
it is unnecessary for the elements to be coded in the order that a screen
reader might read them due to the fact that
I always had mine on group but since the latest update to Safari things haven't
been working so well in that setting so I switched it to dom order and my
problem went away. I may have other problems later but so far all is good.

Dom order navigates the web page by object, in the order that the HTML
specifies. This will usually be the setting you want. I have never really tried
the group mode setting since the dom setting has always worked for me.

Tim,
Okay, I’ll see if I can glean some differences on web pages. But, pardon for
the simple question, what does “Dom” mean? “Dominant”, Dominion”, or an acronym?

Hi,
When using DOM order, VO behaves more like those dreaded Windows screen readers
in that the page is not analyzed by VO where it attempts to group related items
together for faster browsing. Some folks have had VO make funny sounds while
it is in Group mode as, in some cases, these grouped
Tim, thanks. Found it. But now I’ve forgotten why this is significant. How do
these subtle differences affect my web browsing experience?

Dom order reads HTML documents like Windows screen readers. Group order reads
them more like Macintosh applications, for example in lists when you have group
mode on, you need to interact with the list to see everything inside as
individual items. It also tries to arrange things somewhat like
can somebody tell me what dom order is and how it differes from the other
