I have a spreadsheet for all my bills in Numbers but I can’t remember how the
subtraction formula is done. Could someone please write out how the formula
should look?

If the first number is in a1, and the second in b1, then you’d do: =a1-b1

Please note there is a bug in Yosemite in which if you press the = to put in
your formula, you have to make sure to press the X right arrow first before you
start typing in your cells or your numbers or whatever. The cursor is being
placed just before the = when you start the formula.
