A warning that the Mac will shut down in 60 seconds, and then these seconds counting down, is standard behavior when selecting Shut Down, from the Apple Menu. Not sure why there was a hang-up and the Mac did not proceed with the shut down. Perhaps there was a ongoing process that prevented the

Reboot your Mac, and see if you still hear the hiss. If you do, then disconnect the speakers, and see if you still hear it when using headphones. Next time you need to shut down your Mac, try the following: 1. Press VO + M, to place focus on the Menubar. 2. VO focus should be on the Apple menu.
