I am writing this on behalf of a friend who is blind and uses vo with

(a laptop) and Vo came up as usual. Then the computer said "speech off"
and would not say anything else. We have tried going to system

Hi,
Someone probably accidentally touched the trackpad. To fix this, just tap the
trackpad with three fingers. This should get you up and running again!

Dear Nancy,
You are wellcome . Your friend can do a three finger double tap and vo
will turn back on. I hope this helps.

Ok what's happened is that trackpad was on and a 3 finger quadruple tap was
done. So do a 3 finger quadruple tap and Speech should become un-muted.

Hi Nancy,
The same thing happened to me. I was on the phone with AppleCare for nearly an
hour. Eventually, we had to create another user account. Hmm, now I know how
to get the speech on in case that happens. Thank you for the great assistance.

Sounds like you might have muted voiceover. Try a 3 finger triple tap. Just
like on the iPhone.

Hello,
Ricardo means a three finger double tap :-)
There's a very useful "cheat sheet" in the VO manual:

The ironic thing is that that is precisely what I tried, but it did not work
until I did it in the bottom left-hand corner of the panel. I was doing it
mid-panel and was getting nowhere. (And of course with speech off, I couldn't
read the vo commands!)
