it's a PySide app and I might be able to use something like xtest to
simulate a click. IMHO there are two issues: There are manifold modal
dialogs to be considered (connection chooser, internet connection failed
yes/no dialog). And it's hard to determine if a modal dialog is really

I finally found a solution I wanted to share with you:
killall -9 osso-connectivity-ui-conndlgs
All modal dialogs associated with connectivity (i.e. connection could
not be established etc.) disappear. The watchdog automatically recreates
the connectivity-ui-conndlgs processes.
