Hi Every other distros name their debug packages as foobar-debuginfo. We name them foobar-debug instead. Due to this, we've to patch various packages (gdb, ...) for that. And we've to maintain those patches of course... What do you think about naming them -debuginfo like other distros do and

Sounds like less patching. Hard to argue with that. Unless there was a way to make it easier to do the patching. Saves a mass rebuild and makes the job easier.
