It turns out that support for this chip (see subject) is disabled in
mageia kernels:
# CONFIG_RT2800PCI_RT33XX is not set
# CONFIG_RT2800PCI_RT35XX is not set
Similar options for the rt2800 USB driver are also not enabled.
