Is there a way to do this from the command line? I don't have the list
admin password...

Check Mailman's crontab (crontab -l -u mailman) to be sure the
gate_news entry is not commented or removed.
I'm trying to set up the news gateway. But it only appears to work one
way; from the mailinglist to the (local) newsserver. Any idea where the
problem may lie?

Good day;
I have mailman archive with ~4K emails going back a couple of years.
I'd like to copy these over to a newsgroup on a local innd server.
The archive is the regular mbox format, and I've played around with
formail and mailpost a bit, with no joy.
Is there a simple way of doing this that

Look at the Python code in Mailman/Queue/NewsRunner.py
The changing of the Messa
It seems that noone knows about this. Where should I take the problem if
this list can't answer it?
I have been able to locate several other reports of the same problem -
but never a solution.

Has anyone else noticed that Mailmans news-gateway sometimes changes the
message-id when sending to nntp?
As an example, this is from a message sent to the maillist:

X-UIDL: 1105709609.H417769P12176.lindis.dis-norge.no
X-Mozilla-Status: 0001
While trying to connec to an external news server I
had this msg back: "Include the username and password
in your ~mailman/Mailman/mm_cfg.py
file (look for details in the file Default.py)
". How can I overcome this issue since I have mailman
istalled by default as a service on my hosting server

Hi,
under the "Mail-News Gateways" option there is a field
that asks for "The Internet address of the machine
your News server is running on". I was wondering what
exactly is this feature and if there is a chance to
use an external news server or if it must be as one

Not only that, but remarkably often the obvious change is the correct
one. So-o-o-o-o cool!

Mailman is Open Source so you should be able to modify the news to mail
gateway and change the sender so that it is always -admin.
Yes, yes, yes. You believe it is beyond your abilities or it will take a
monstrous amount of work on your part, alas, but you are wrong. Take a look
at the code.
I am curios how to stop a news group poster from getting spammed
by my list server. When he writes the news group that is connected
to my list server via "Mail-to-News and News-to-Mail gateway
services."
Does that make sense?
In the case a list member of the suspect group is not reachable.
I am running Mailman 2.0.8
Every time I try to use the Mail-News and News-Mail gateways I
get error messages.

Dear all,
Hi. I'm new to this list.
I don't know whether someone has mentioned before. I have a list
that is trading posts with a news gateway. I want to restrict this list
to member_posting_only (to avoid spams), while allowing posts from this
trusted news gateway (they will deal wit
