[mailop] Any evidence of SMTP smuggling in the wild - yet?

2023-12-28 Thread Tom Perrine via mailop
Has anyone detected or seen any evidence of SMTP smuggling in the wild? I’m trying to get an independent read on how quickly the bad actors have (or haven’t) picked up on this, yet. Cheers, Tom ___ mailop mailing list mailop@mailop.org https://list.ma

[mailop] Anyone tried and couldn't use SPF macros due to interoperability issues?

2023-09-06 Thread Tom Perrine via mailop
Has anyone recently encountered any “modern” mail system that can’t handle SPF macros? The RFC is about a decade old at this point. I don’t care if Exchange 2003 can’t handle them, but does anyone know any reasonably modern system that doesn’t? I know all our systems like them just fine, and I’

[mailop] How to get Google to set a null MX for gmail.co ?

2023-02-16 Thread Tom Perrine via mailop
The subject says it all. We’ve got users (who doesn’t?) who fat-finger gmail.com to gmail.co – apparently A LOT. The domain gmail.co seems to be an anti-squat domain, and on HTTP it throws a 404 – as expected. (Although they could have redirected to gmail.com – whatever). But, there’s no MX,

[mailop] Interesting fallout from the FaceBook outage?

2021-10-07 Thread Tom Perrine via mailop
ServiceNow (NOW) saw what seems to be an interesting side-effect of the Facebook DNS/routing issue from earlier this week. Looking for anyone else who saw the same thing, or to see if I’m mis-interpreting the evidence. We started seeing a large number of “421 local policy violation” errors for

Perfect, that's what I was looking for. Our customers still need more education (and tooling) around bounce handling. We're working on it. Since they control their own databases, which we are not permitted to see, we have to work with them to help them improve their email hygiene. They also c

Would someone from t-online.de please publish the COMPLETE and DEFINITEIVE set of ALL rules for sending to your customers? Preferably on your web site instead of in mailops, so that everyone can see them? I’ve seen bits and pieces here, with many unanswered questions. It’s not at all clear what
