I've upgraded MapGuide from 2.0.2 to 2.1.0, and now ECWs don't work.
I put gdalplugins folder with gdal_ECW_JP2ECW.dll (dated 06/02/2010) and the
four dll NCSxxx (version 3.3.0.183) in server\bin folder, but it does't
solve the problem.
In Maestro, adding a Gdal dataconnection I have the followi

I still have no luck with the ECW. I even uninstalled/reinstalled 2.1 in case
I accidently messed up the DLLs while following steps in trac #1121. I did
manage to get a “Spatial context extent appear to be invalid” once in
Maestro, but I couldn’t get it to appear again ?? I installed the latest R
The default projection of the ECW comes up as XY-M (Arbitrary X-Y Coordinates
(Meters)) and I override it to UTM83-18...to match my map.

Denis,
The XML looks like what I got out of my MrSIDS. Same issue. I am totally
convinced it is a GDAL16/provider issue when "cicumstances are correct".
Take a look at Martin Morrison's trac #1121.
Hopefully when Jason Birch comes online he will help. I know that he has
done work with ECWs. Take
The GDAL provider is a little special, in that it never reports errors.
Instead it returns the default extent, as you have in your xml below.
Sometimes (perhaps an MG bug or a specific format issue?), the default
extents are also
returned for perfectly valid data, making it impossible to detect
I currently have several XP based laptops running MGOS 2.02 (IIS, PHP) and
one server (MGOS 1.2, IIS, PHP). All of the maps on each were authored using
Studio and each have a 1.05Gb ECW displaying correctly.
However, I can not seem to get the same ECW to run correctly with MGOS 2.1
