I've been trying to work out how the MapInfo 'Layer Control' dialog box
would be created in MapBasic. It is quite obviously a MultiListBox with
CheckBoxes within it. This is the exact functionality I need. I have
created my own dialog with identical functionality (customised to my
application)
I have seen a product called Label-EZ which is used to place labels in
MapInfo (and other GIS's) a lot more cleverly than MapInfo can. It can also
handle curved labels, leadering, contour labelling etc. It is also very
expensive. Are there any other label placement/enhancement products in use

that which I was editing.

You should check out Vancouver, Canada's, Safe Software, and their
Translators: FME Professional Suite, or FME Professional ESRI Suite. It's
worth the money considering the power to translate geospatial information.
Both MapInfo and ESRI use a subset of FME for their products translators.

Dear all,

Before you open an Excel file in MI, verify that the cells that the

Hello All,
Could anyone explain to me the logic behind the usage of the

Folks,
Bill's idea works well. Another way to reduce pixilation (is that
the proper word?) is to increase the size of the output image. The default
is the size of the map window or layout page size. If it is 8.5 x 11 change
it to 17 x 22. This will get you a much larger files size but
I'm not aware of a more direct route (but that doesn't mean to say there
isn't one!), but you can use the SDF COM Toolkit to manipulate (ie.

[The mapguide SDF loader can also create SDLs -
I recommend using the "Drag Map Window" tool to put maps into MS Office

I have a question regarding read-only layer. Yesterday I added several

I have a Mapinfo layer containing a larger number of polygons. Each polygon
has a field called ID which currently contains the value 0. I want to
automatically number these polygons by filling in the ID field with the
values 1, 2, 3 etc. Is there an easy way to do this?
