specification of MI's MIF/MID-format (and where to get it) ?

Check out the drivers version. If they are all the same, try to use a
newer/other one

Hi Rajeev and Flavio,
there is a kind of "Dogfood" to solve your MI2SW-problem, maybe a bit easier
to use as FME .
Take a look at Sofions MI-Import (using MIF-Files as source) -->
http://www.sofion.de/flyer/mapinfo.pdf. Just configure mappings into your
target dataset by using a GUI ;-) and
Win95/98 limits file size at FAT16 on 2Gb. Using NT's NTFS it will be 16 GB
!
