Dear all,
When you use the open file dialog box there are a number of folders on the
left (Windows 2000 convention) is there anyway to add to this list - maybe
from the registry.

Hello List,
after the announcement of Mapinfo migrating to the .NET architecture last

Few days before I wrote a question concerning the use of arrays. In Mapbasic
it is very annoying to have the
Hi,
Does anybody know of an idiots guide to algorithms for breaking complex

I have been tryig to follow some references on

Many thanks to all those who offered suggestions - Dan Page, John Ievers,
Caroline Hilton, and especially Russell Lawley who gave me some MapBasic
help and examples.
The suggestions fall into two camps...

Russell,
RouteWare's toolbox www.routeware.co.uk will do this. It is available with

John,
There are certain folders that appear on the left i.e. Tables, Remote and
Workspaces but in the preferences there doesn't seem to be the option to add
more just specify where the directories are for the existing!

I don't think there's a way of modifying the actual list. A workaround
would be to point to a folder with a number of sub folders suitably named.

I'm not quite sure were you can get it, but I think that you can alter these

These Power Tools also include Tveak UI and some other tools for Windows. I

Listers,
Which is the best way to alter the font size of a text object? Using the
Alter Object statement won't alter the font size, I guess because the size
is dependent upon the zoom level of the map. But you can alter the font

I'm don't quite get that. Why do you make a type that only holds a single
variable as an array ?? Aren't types mostly used for defining a combination
of several variables ?
And is array not a reserved word in MapBasic ???
But anyway: Would this work ?

Hi,
Further to Jacques email, I believe you can do it with both dimensions being
created dynamically. The following is a rework of how I handle an array
normally, so it is in the same format as Jacques. The disclaimer is that
this code is off the top of my head and I haven't actually tested

To date, I have only used 2D arrays, but theoretically
it is not limited in the number of dimensions.
I think the limitation would lie with the redim statement:
redim rowI(iIndex).ColJ(iColumnCount)...
This is a fatal limitation: It won't compile.

Hi there,
I' ve asked before, but does anyone know how to 'open'

Richard,
You can't make the normal fills transparent you will need to change the
fills so they are not solid and have no background.

I suppose we could ask a joke mailing list if it's okay to discuss GIS, or
