roadblock. I support an old application that has in excess of 2 million
records in one table. Recently, the map file for that one table exceeded 2
Gig in size. I can no longer pack the table nor add new records.

I have a ".dwg" file created in Autocad Map 2000 and I wish to get it into Mapinfo.
The file is of elevation contours and each polyline has an elevation value associated
with it as part of the properties listed for each polyline in AutoCad Map 2000. When I

There are several ways to do this.
1) You can create a thematic map of the counties. To do this, add a column
to your table (Table>Maintenance>Table Structure. Add a column, name it
Terr, choose integer or charactor.) Now reopen the table. choose Map>Create
Thematic Map. You want Individual-R

We have got eight tables joined together in a seamless table.
Naturally,they share the same table structure and data types.
But we discovered that the labeling does not work as it should.

add a column for the area to your table, then do an update column from the
Table Menu. Select the new col in the COl to Update, go down to the Value
box, insert cursor, and hit Assist, in the next dialog hit Function pull
down, select Area, put the units you want if the default sq mi is not what
I have a table of line segments that intersect a table of points on each
end at their nodes.
I would like to be able to calculate which two end points each line segment
hits using
geographic operators. The line segment table has the following structure.
X1,Y1,X2,Y2 (endpoint coordinates),ID1,ID2
It is more likely that you hit the limit of 2 GB on the files before you
hit the maximum number of records. Even if your table only holds a
logical variable or a char(1), every record still takes up 2 bytes in
the DAT file. So 1,000,000,000 records would be an absolute limit.

2,147,483,647 (~ Integer)
But again I have never tried to have that many records in a single table.

If you are using MapInfo 7.0 you can tell MapInfo which projection you
prefer to use for:
- the current session
- new tables
This should do that you don't need to enter the "Set CoordSys..." into the
MapBasic window.
