OK, since I mostly use MapInfo for printing, I'll throw one out as well:
In MI Pro 7.0 in the 'Save Window As' function, the maximum number of pixels
I can save is 9,600 X 9,600. This would make a 48" X 48" .tif image at 200
DPI. It works the first time, but fails with an error after that. Sinc
Has anyone tried to do T1 mapping with MapInfo? Can it be done, if so, what
is involved. Thanks.

Hello Listers,
I think today should be designated "Bug Friday"... everyone throw in their
favourite little known bug!
My favourite has been a bug since v5.0 when MapInfo tinkered with the object
processing code to get rid of a rather annoying error message.
Unfortunately, while fixing a few thing
Hello all!!!
I have wrote an application using MapX 5.0 and VB 6. This application
uses several maps stored on Oracle 9i. These maps are accesed via SQL as
normal tables and as views. Everything was working fine when I used EZLoader
to load those maps into Oracle 9i, however, when I tried to

If you have MAPublisher you can directly import Mapinfo files to Adobe
Illustrator and work on them further in Illustrator completely spatially with
the underlying database. See http://www.mapublisher.com for details.

Brian-
MapInfo is only good for displaying referenced images, there's nothing else it can do
with them. It cannot move, rotate, stretch, or re-project at all. You will need to
use a photo editing software like Corel Photo-Paint to make all your images into one.
Then you may want to open that
Hi,
Is it possible to convert MI layout or map window into an Illustrator file

Hello list,
I have brought in a bunch of unreferenced jpeg photos into a map window. I
want to be able to move them around to create a mosaic but it will not let
me move them around. Any help would be appreciated.

Just to add another approach, though I am please to know about the find
statement in the workspace method, and find it more elegant than what I am
about to say.
The Find command defaults to the first table with an indexed column in the
Open table section of the workspace and it must also be in the

Cracked it - helpful and informative note from MI Windsor follows - you
don't need spatial drivers to get at Spatialware for SQL Server, the
ordinary Microsoft ones will do (shows how things change) -

Hello List
Thought I'd post this in case anyone's experienced the same behaviour.
I'm running XP. I have MapInfo Pro 6.5 and 7.0 installed.
Using MapBasic 5.0, writing the simplest of utilities (and complex ones, for that
matter), after three or four quick and successful compilations, hitting C
Hi Lars,
I think I could counter arguments 1 to 4 to varying degrees, but I'm
surprised by 5 and for this reason concede that this does indeed sounds like
a bug in MB. On the subject of bugs, look out for my next post for a beauty!

Hi Warren,
Please think it over a second time. 5 fast arguments for it being a bug:
1. The SEL_INFO_NROWS return the number of selected rows in the base table,
not in the selection itself (see queote from manual). It would be very
incosistent to require that SEL_INFO_TABLENAME returns anything bu
Hi Fionn,
You need to purchase the Vertical Mapper SDK to use VM functions in MB (and
VB, Delphi, C++ etc.).

Hello Lars,
I can see why the inconsistency in querying base table name is inconvenient
but can also understand why is does so. I would not regard it as a bug
because it is probably intended to behave like this. A bug and a compromised
design are quite different although the inconvenience for deve
Hi there
Strange but true - MI Pro 7.5 has installed v 4 MapInfo Spatialware drivers
on my machine (and everything works fine) but the same disk has put v3.6
drivers on another machine and he can't use Pro with Spatialware at all -
keeps getting 'unsupported data source' errors. Spatialware itself
Hi list,
Can anyone confirm this problem, or better yet suggest a work-around ?
I'm using SelectionInfo(SEL_INFO_TABLENAME) to provide the name of the base table from
which the current selection is drawn. Usually this works fine, but if the selection is
a join, e.g. SELECT * FROM A, B WHERE A.I
Hello list,
Do you know whether Vertical Mapper features can be used within a Mapbasic

Adam,
you could try adding the following line to your workspace
find using mytable(column_name) options symbol makesymbol(48,16711680,24)
which should then default the Find command to use the column called column
name in the table called mytable and you get to pick a nice symbol too!!!
