Thanks a lot, Philip, for your answer
It gives me an advantage at about 15%. I'm surprized. :)
Is there anything more here to correct?
Could anyone tell me about the second question - it bothers me mostly. Waiting
impatiently

hi,
When creating polyline in mapx5.0,as the mouse arrived at the edge of the map
window, the screen can't move horizontally or/and vertially automatically what can be
done in professional. Is there someone know how to do that using vb or Vc++ with mapx?

Hello
I'm shocked. You, Philip, were absolutely right. When I moved poins collection into
new variable working time decreased to less than minute for 4000 objects. I can't
understand such a logic... very strange.
I'm so gratefull to you. Thanks so much. Now i'll try to remake all the code
Hi,
Does anyone know if/when a beta version of MI v8.0 will be available? I had
heard 8.0 would be released in March(ish) but that was a while ago so...

Hi Ian!
As far as I understand, MI corp has abandoned beta programs altogether. Did
you see any beta for v7.5?
I did not, neither has there been any beta cycles for localized MI Pro
versions since v6.5
I am speaking of course as a common user - maybe there has been a beta for
a select audicene.
I am trying to translate some ESRI shape data into Mapinfo MID/MIF format,
but the translator fails due to an unknown geometry, which has no meaning
to me.
see following log file:
Universal Translator (19971015 - Build 231h)
Opened Shape File G:\Mowbray\Vector
The Alpha is available now but one has to have register for it a long time ago, don't
know if they would accept new members... You also need Visual Studio 2003. I've been
told that a Beta version should be available since this time they re-write the
software. I don't have any exact date but
Hi all,
Is there any way to identify, by a query or other straightforward process,
all regions that have a hole or holes in them? The ObjectInfo function will
enable multi-polygon regions to be identified, but I can't see that it will
provide what I want. Any suggestions?
TIA,
Keith
Thanks Ashley and Mark for your response! Here is what I ended up doing:
minlon = ObjectGeography(editbox.obj, OBJ_GEO_LINEBEGX)
maxlon = ObjectGeography(editbox.obj, OBJ_GEO_LINEENDX)
minlat = ObjectGeography(editbox.obj, OBJ_GEO_LINEBEGY)
maxlat
I need to develop a set of service areas based on drivetime from my road
data. Can anyone recommend the appropriate MapInfo product for this task?
I do not necessarily need to do routing, just establish service area
polygons. Thanks in advance.

Check out RouteWare (http://www.routeware.dk/.) There's a ready-to-run
application for MapInfo, but I bought the
Drive time is essentially a friction surface. You can take a look at a
MapInfo Pro app that can do what-if analysis based on, in example, various
confirgurations of ATM locaions versus streets and their speed
classification. You will need to download MapCalc Learner at:

You can perform such tasks with either
1) RouteFinder 2.02 for MapInfo or
2) RW Net 2.18 (SDK)
Bill Thoens comment on the quality of the RW Net documentation was based
on an older version. A new and much improved version was released in
July 2003. The old was indeed not very

well consider this, MINX is different to BEGX. for instance what if your

i think you need to use the esoteric IsDonut() function.
no, sorry that's no help. friday comes early in australia.
i don't know the answer, but i suspect it will involve something along the
lines of evaluating the surface area of the region, then outputting the

Can someone share the string for adding the following projection to the

Albers Equal Area Projection over the State of California.
This is the name of the projection listed for many of the GIS-related

here, i've had a play with my theory. i don't know how much processing you
can do automatically but you'll get the idea.
i first had a donut, a region with a hole in it.
to get the area of it i selected it and typed the following:

DonutArea = area(selection.obj, sq km)

Trey,
Thanks, that's as good a solution as I need.
I ended up using
Set Window 1011 Position ( -0.05, -0.05) Width 14.73 Height 11
for a 15 display. The negative values offset it enough to account for
the window border and the effect is virtually the same as a maximised
window.
