Hi,
Does anybody know how to search for files in a directory and all
subdirectories with Mapbasic?
I want to do some batch processing on all my tab-files, but I'm stuck. I can
currently only search in one directory with FindFirstFile and
FindNextFile...
TIA

Hi Robert,
I have written a workspace that seems to work for me, It updates parcel
information from an access table that opens a fixed width tab delimited
export from accessing program (Equalizer). Each month, I run the export
from Equalizer, run a script in Access that imports the fixed width

Perhaps you can add a col to your data and populate it with ROWID, then
label regions with ROWID, and place the data browser in a separate frame(s)
to the side. Remember that you control the font from the browser window
with text button. If the browser is too big to put in one frame, then SQL

I just wanted to say thanks to the list and especially Paul Smith for
helping me with the code, it does EXACTLY what I wanted it to do. I really
appreciate all of the help.

Hi Michael,
I have noticed that in your revised code you have changed order from left to
right, top to bottom.
Hello listers:
In Mapinfo I have a workspace that has about 50 layers in it. I would like
to select a map object and readily identify what layer it is on.
Is there a quick way to do this without turning off each layer to see when
the object disappears?
Whenever you select an object in a map, you can in the status bar see which
layer the selection is made from.
Make sure that you have your statusbar visible. You can turn this one on/off in
the Options menu

I use the tool Quick Layer Control or QLC mb found at the directions mag web
site or I can email it to you
Basically you select the layer then select the pen button on the QLC button pad
(there are only 3 buttons) this make the layer editable
Now use the layer control to find the layer that
I'm looking for an algorithm that will find the angle of a line passing
through a polygon's centroid and that's aligned with the long axis of the
polygon. Anyone know of such an algorithm that can be implemented in
MapBasic?
The purpose is to find the best angle for automatically rotating
Hi,

Any clues?

Hi Bill,
One approach is to find the minimum bounding rectangle (but not
necessarily parallel to an axis). The direction of the long side could
be that angle. Look here for a description in subject 2.09:

This is probably far from perfect in
