More spatialware stuff,
Is there a stored procedure in spatialware that will update the table
extents in the Mapinfo_Mapcatalog?
I can sort of get there I think with an update query like the following
(although this isn't working yet - it may need a stored proc with a temp
table):

Thank you for your reply. I discovered the problem and I copy you my
findings below, which I'd sent to members who offered help. For
everyone's enlightenment I'm CCing this to the List.

Hi All!
I would like to offer my humble apologies and hereby stand corrected.
A shall go and find a pointed paper hat and stand in the corner.
Yesterday I claimed in a reply to Alex Philippov that MI Pro did not read
GeoTiff files.
This was false. Bill Wemple from MI has kindly corrected me and
Can MI save as GeoTiff from a TAB file (ie, with the georeference info
preserved)?

All of the TAB's are just in folders on the network. No pending edits, no
tables in Access or any other DAO database system.

Were there any pending edits after an abrupt termination or were there any

Hi List
This is something I want to get to grips with. I have two versions of a
Stops table: one in Visual Foxpro and the other in MI. SO, I have an
VFP Manual database and the MI graphics version. When I make changes
in either system I have the means to copy the update to the other
system.
My question has gotten more response and input than I had expected.
I agree with Gretchen. It would explain why the tables show up as being used
by another user if you don't use File-Close All or Close Table.
All of the points made relate back to why the Quick Start Dialog doesn't give

I would advocate that any sort of comparison take place on the pending Pro
8.0 versus an old code emulated by many. Given that the rumor of the
release for MapInfo Pro 8.0 is for this month, I'd wait a few days before
discounting the MapInfo offering as suggested.

Terry,
If you could access your Visual FoxPro thru ODBC this would happen on the fly.,
and you would only need one copy of yoyr STOPS table - in Visual FoxPro.
And I can see that there is a ODBC driver for Visual FoxPro.
Here is a short description on how to achive this:
1. Create a ODBC
It is not a rumor anymore. MapInfo 8.0 has been released and I have already had
a look at it. Some nice new features has been added.
One feature that I could have used years ago when I did a lot of vectorization
is the Stream digitizing that adds a new node to a polyline/polygon when you
move
Hi Mike,
There is a tool at the Directionsmag site that will do this for you. Do a
search for viewselection-96.zip under the tools for MapInfo. It comes with the
MB and the MBX. It was posted by Ken Fioretti back in 1999.

Thanks for the reply. Hmmm, at first glance it all seems a bit complicated
(simpleton, remember :-), and the following factors:
1) I've already got my file conversions all set up and this would seem like
starting over from scratch
2) Stops is not the only table - I have routes, zones,
Thanks, Jon.
That's the sort of func. I'm looking for. However, if you read my

what x and y were: 1.2607 and 51.9248. I didn't get those values via
Centroidx/y() (can't remember how now!) but they are the vals that the

Okay, Terry, I can see your point about not going down the ODBC road.
Jon, has the right answer, you just need to add the Set CoordSys to specify
which coordsys you want the coordsys in.

Set CoordSys STOPS

Hi all
I am having a bit of trouble loading TAB files into SpatialWare, and I
can't figure out why it won't work. As a background I have MSDE loaded
onto my machine (local) and the ODBC connection set up. I have granted
myself full privileges on the database I have set up to load the spatial
James,
Is your table called Land Unit Register_v5_gda94? If it is perhaps try
renaming your table so that there is no spaces in its name. Seems like
the uploader doesn't like the spaces and is giving an error when it tries
to interpret Unit Register_v5_gda94 while trying to upload this
Robert,
I did rename it and it worked a treat.
Thanks very much
