Hello,
We get the following messages in sequence when we start MI 6.5 on both of
two Win2000 Dell networked computer (MI installed locally):

I can think of a couple tools that are applicable to environmetal modeling
if not specific to it. One is from FEMA. It's called HAZUS and, while it's
specific purpose is natural hazard modeling (currently it models
earthquakes; in the near future it will be available for floods and
windstorms),
Hello,
I'm submitting this for a non-MI-L colleague. His problem is with the if

the beginning of the code.
Thanks for your help.
Any observations greatly appreciated. Please respond to

Hello,
Hello,
Neither my colleague nor I at FEMA can get ArcLink to start without crashing
MI. We're using 6.5. (I'd be a little more resourceful and not ask the
list about this except FEMAns don't get install/delete/modify access to the
SW. ) I'll summ.
Thanks,

I've received the following from a FEMA colleague. He asked that I forward

It has been a while since I used MapPoint and it was an older version. I
used it primarily to make wallpaper maps, i.e., maps whose first job is to
be pretty. MP does that well because it has lots of good data and it's well
developed for displaying it at various zoom levels, etc. I don't rememb
Hello,
I am on an active search for the simple error that keeps me from accurately
converting shapefiles in the Oregon Lambert Projection into MapInfo .tab

The Oregon Lambert Projection is used by Oregon State agencies as their

Hello,
I'm getting odd (!!) results using the Append2.mbx from the DirectionsMag
tool site. I've used it successfully before to batch append dozens of
similarly structured tables such as flood maps. Now I'm trying to use it
with NWI wetlands quads, appending the quad sheets together to create

Hello,
I've used version 7 for a day now and found a feature I haven't seen yet.
Perhaps it's familiar to others. My pull down menu for "tables" in the SQL
window is a mess; the table names are totally jumbled up and overwriting
each other to the point that they can't even be sorted out one from
Hi,
I've been cruising along on a little program that "automates" some
repetitive mapmapking. At one point I need to geographically query a
polygon layer(a National Wetlands Inventory quad index) so I can determine
which NWI quads and DRG basemaps our project area is within. I've assigned

Hello,
I'm trying to change the projection of at least dozens, perhaps scores or
even hundreds, of DRG for the states of WA, OR, ID and AK (FEMA Region X). I
get them off the web in UTM (NAD 27/US) , but we want to store everything as
Lat/Long NAD 83, so we (read "I") have to change the project

I thought Sol Katz had done one, but this is what Google shows? It's been
years since I used a raw tiger converter, but it looks like we'll have to
dust of that skill.

I'm going out on a limb here, but, I'd be willing to bet your shapefile is
not non-earth. Unfortunately, ArcView is horrible about disclosing it's
projection information, which it doesn't keep in the first place.
First, I'd check with the data provider or check the metadata, if any. Or,

Dick,
I paid $200 for MI 2.X through the University of Washington academic pricing
program in 1993. All of my upgrades since have been bought through the
local MI distributor and I've never had any further hint of an MI academic
program. But, it seems to have been there in some form in '93.

To all and the Archive,
I was looking around in the MI-L archives today for tips on transforming
coordinates in a map where the Y coordinate had been shifted. I found good
info, but a small info gap that I thought I'd fill for those who might run
into this situation in the future.

List,
I asked the other day about changing projections of DRG raster images,
preferrably in a batch operation, because I have dozens or hundred to
convert for FEMA Region X. I promised to summarize, but the solution I
adopted was nothng like the question I asked, which had to do with MapBasic

We're having trouble trying to UT a file containing 4316 polygons. Depending
on the machine (RAM, CPU, etc.) MI either just hangs or gives us an out of
memory error ("close some apps."). The shape file is 45MB and it seems that
the polygons have lots of line segments: a crude sample show polygons
