You have to change it into a region - it is not enough that the polyline
looks like a region.

Subject: MI-L Breaking a Polyl
I'm attempting to break a long polyline at a specific vertex.
The result would be two new polylines. I have attempted the "split"
command, but receive an error that I may not use a linear object. I
receive this message even when closing the cutter polyline to create
polygon. Suggestions?
Hi All,
Has anyone got a program/routine that can break a polyline at a selected
chainage from the beginning of the polyline. We would start of with a line
that was say 12.5 km and then break it at chainage 6.1km and then 8.9km
distances from the start of the line.
Thanks In Advance
Tony
