If the normal ATRAC is able to compress CD music at a ratio of 5-1 and the new MDLP format is able to squeeze four (4) times as much audio data onto the same disk then ATRAC isn't MDLP compressing CD music at a ratio of 20-1? If so, this blows away mp3 ;^) OO OO OO OO

Check out the FAQ on the MD community page. I believe it has nothing to do with further compression (or more correctly bitwise reduction). The just lower the bit rate. If you go use Napster you will always see a bit rate listed for each song you search for. The higher the number the larger
