Check out www.etree.org , the .SHN (Shorten) format is
lossless compression, and can be played in winamp (with a
plugin). Not sure what the compression ratio is.

Nothing special, just 2:1 in lossless mode, based on Huffman coding.

The factory cassette/cd in dash player is double-sized, and there are
controls mounted on the steering wheel. I don't want to change the
appearance of the dash or lose the functionality of the steering wheel
