boomboxes available (maybe three of four models, all AC-powered, and
extremely difficult to find). I'm not aware of any battery-powered boomboxes
for sale in the U.S., which is just mind-boggling. Why don't the
manufacturers meet this need?

Hi all,
The Yamaha RP-U100 apparently is now Mac-compatible. The company's web page
http://www.yamaha.com/yec/products/newprods/PChometheater/pchtinfo.htm has
been changed to add this statement:
The Yamaha @ PET RP-U100 is USB compatible with Windows 98 installed PCs and
Apple Macintosh

Hi all,
This was sent to me by a Sharp portable MD user who is sending an optical
digital output from his computer sound card to his MD recorder.
He asked:
My portable MD recorder gets a digital signal from the sound card all the
time, making it impossible to synch record. Is this normal?
hope I haven't made any
major gaffs with the instructions.
If anyone has any corrections or suggestions, please let me know.

Sony will take it under advisement?

Hi Rick,
You may be right. I assumed that since Sony's press release called the
ZS-M35 a "portable" unit, it would be battery powered. If it's not, the
marketing geniuses at Sony need to have their collective noggins examined
for calling an AC-powered stereo a portable unit. Or maybe it comes
